The meeting of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon in a one-on-one format, and then in an expanded format was held in Dushanbe.
During the one-on-one talks, the President of Tajikistan stressed that Tajik-Azerbaijani relations are developing in many areas, the press service of the head of the Tajik state reports.
“The relations between our peoples have long-standing good traditions. It is gratifying that today our interstate relations are developing in many areas. We attach great importance to their further strengthening in all formats,” he stressed.
At the meeting, it was noted that the countries have very good prospects for deepening cooperation in trade, economic, industrial cooperation, and in the transport sectors.

It was emphasized that in the field of industrial cooperation there are many opportunities for the implementation of joint projects in the fields of light industry, chemistry and mining, production of building materials, processing of aluminum, cotton fiber, precious and semi-precious stones and metals.
The President of Tajikistan confirmed the interest in the participation of Azerbaijani companies in the development of oil and gas fields in Tajikistan.
In the field of transport and transit, an exchange of views took place on the more active use of the transit capabilities of Azerbaijan and the increase in the volume of cargo transportation by state and commercial structures of Tajikistan.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, in turn, according to his press service, noted that relations between the countries have a good history and expressed confidence that they have a very good future.
A special place in the talks was occupied by the humanitarian direction of relations between the two countries.

The focus was also on security issues. The leaders of the two states called for strengthening cooperation in the fight against international terrorism, extremism, drug and arms trafficking, cybercrime and other forms of transnational organized crime.
The Presidents also exchanged views on a set of topical issues of a regional and international nature.
On the eve of the visit of Ilham Aliyev , the Investment Forum of Tajikistan and Azerbaijan was held in Dushanbe, which was attended by more than 200 participants from both sides, including heads and officials of ministries and departments, entrepreneurs and investors, as well as representatives of companies and enterprises in various fields of economic activity .
