Attorneys for Donald Trump met with Justice Department prosecutors on Thursday to discuss an ongoing investigation into attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 election – a new sign that an indictment of the former president could be imminent.
Trump confirmed reports of the meeting in a post on social media, reiterating his innocence and stating that Justice Department officials did not inform his legal team of expected charges.
“My attorneys had a productive meeting with the DOJ this morning, explaining in detail that I did nothing wrong, was advised by many lawyers, and that an Indictment of me would only further destroy our Country. No indication of notice was given during the meeting — Do not trust the Fake News on anything!” Trump said in the post.
